Laugher in Central Oregon is expanding.  Here are the current free Laughter club offerings..

Cost: NOTHING!!! Unless you count your sadness, you anxiety, your rough week at work.   We may have to take those away from you.  haha

Laughter Club is off and....well....cracking up!  Our Sunday sessions have been very fun!  I've been so inspired by all the beautiful laughing faces and by your enthusiasm.  We will meet every Sunday at 9 AM. (on hiatus)  Bring your friends!

There are a few medical contraindications for Laughter Yoga.  Please see the bottom of this page for medical contraindications.  Children are welcome to come to some or all of the Laughter club sessions.  The exception would be the occasional younger child  who might "lose control" during certain parts of laughter meditation practice when it would be distracting for others.  In this case, we would simply ask the parent to take the child outside for a short time.

Directions: we suggest mapquesting the directions from your location but please park on Daggett Lane  or Jackson St. rather than inside the community.... and avoid parking in the one spot on Daggett just uphill of the turn onto Community Lane.  It will be a 5 min walk in from Daggett and will be the last house on the Right at the end of Higher Ground Avenue.

Welcome to The Playful Heart Laughter Yoga!!!Yaaaaaaaay!!

 

Hello!  This site was created for anybody and everybody who wants and needs more laughter in their life.  Did you know that laughter yoga is a unique idea that is catching on all over the world?  Anybody can laugh for no reason!  You don't need jokes, comedy, or even need a sense of humor! 

Laughter yoga, done in a group, is initiated using laughter exercises done with eye contact and a healthy dose of childlike playfulness which very quickly turns into real, spontaneous laughter which is highly contagious. 

It is called laughter yoga because we combine these laughter exercises with yoga breathing, also known as pranayama, which together increase greatly the amount of oxygen in the body and in the brain which very quickly will increase our energy level and our general health. (see more on benefits below)

There have been scientific studies done that show that it makes no difference whether laughter is pretend or real.  The body can't tell the difference.  One gets the very same health benefits from laughing just for the sake of laughing.

Laughter yoga was created by Madan Kataria, a medical doctor from India, in Mumbai in March of 1995.  He began with the help of his beautiful wife Madhuri Kataria and with just five people in a public park, started the first laughter club.  Since then,  the movement has grown to over 6000 clubs in over 60 countries.

If you can't make it to Laughter Club, there is a laughline that you can call and laugh with other folks.  It will make your day.  promise.

Laughline is a conference call based out of a call center in Ohio.  No charge if you have free long distance on your cell phone.  You can call on these hours every day.  Pacific Standard Time: 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 AM and 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 PM.  calls last for 20 min and you can come on the call at any time during the 20 minutes.  There is a moderator who is a trained laughter leader on each call but sometimes there's laughter exercises and sometimes just lots of laughter.

Why come to Laughter Club or call the laughline??

  • because the studies have shown that to get the health benefits of laughter (and there are many) it must be sustained for 10-15 minutes at a time.  In our day to day....we laugh maybe for 5 seconds at a time, 10-15 times per day at most.  Even if you tend to laugh a lot, you wouldn't get the same benefits on a regular basis.
  • because the studies have also shown that the laughter should be the deep hearty laughter, like a real belly laugh, using the diaphragm and using a full exhale (in medical terms, exhaling your full expiratory reserve)  This creates the space for almost 2 extra liters of air and oxygen to come in and feed your cells with each inbreath!!!
  • because it makes laughter unconditional!  In real life we don't always have so many reasons to laugh.  In laughter club, you don't need any!!!!  Ha ha ha ha ha!

  • STRESS REDUCTION!!!!  Laughter yoga creates lots of endorphins, seratonin, and dopamine, happy chemicals for your brain.  It puts you in a good mood!  QUICKLY. and it lasts throughout your day.  most of our medical diagnoses these days are related to stress.
  • IMMUNE SYSTEM. Laughter yoga has been proven to increase levels of chemicals in the body that fight off illnesses.  It will not only decrease your chances of falling sick, but will make shorter the times when you do.  Life is better when you are healthy....don't you think?
